Director of Customer Strategy

We’ve built a fast-growing business with world-class clients and an incredible team - and as we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Director of Customer Strategy to help us expand Elevate’s impact. In this role, you’ll be part of the sales team, expanding our client base and selling new business to our clients. You’ll be supported by a collaborative sales and customer success team, a strong brand, and proven products that deliver real results. You will also have the option to join our roster of coaches and facilitators and be a practitioner if you like! 

Why This Role Matters

As a Director of Customer Strategy, you’ll join a small, high-impact team that’s helping Elevate reach even more companies. You’ll partner with Chief People Officers, HR, and L&D leaders to design and sell custom leadership programs that drive measurable business impact. You’ll act as a trusted advisor - uncovering needs, shaping solutions, and ensuring Elevate’s work truly meets each client’s goals.

While your main focus will be sales, you’ll also have opportunities to coach and/or facilitate select sessions - staying close to the work and seeing firsthand the difference it makes for leaders and teams.

This role is ideal for a seasoned HR or L&D executive who wants to apply their expertise across multiple companies - combining strategic consulting, relationship development, and meaningful facilitation / coaching work without going fully independent.

What You’ll Do

Expand Elevate’s Impact  

  • Leverage your network and community of people leaders to identify and sell to new clients.

  • Meet with CPOs and VPs of People to understand their business goals, key success metrics, and decision-making process so that you know what needs to be accomplished in order to secure the sale.

  • Develop custom leadership development programs, communicated via slides, that meet the needs of the clients and their decision makers. You will have a sales target.

  • Continue to develop the relationship with the client after the initial program is sold to identify opportunities for further impact.

Coach & Facilitate (Optional)

  • Participate as a coach or facilitator in select engagements to stay connected to the content and experience firsthand how Elevate’s work drives impact.

  • Use these experiences to deepen relationships, refine our programs, and enhance your own professional development.

Contribute to Elevate’s Strategy   

  • Share insights from the market to inform Elevate’s go-forward strategy, product innovation, and positioning.

Who you are:

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in HR or People Development roles.

  • A community of HR leaders that they can reach out to explore if Elevate can help them with their goals.

  • Experience developing bespoke people-development programs.

  • Proven track record of securing buy-in for initiatives or securing new clients. You are not afraid to make “the ask,” you have an ability to understand the key decision makers, and can navigate getting access to them to ensure you have the input and relationships you need to get a “yes.”

  • Incredible active listening skills and deep curiosity to really uncover customer needs and decision-making processes (who and how), so you have the information you need to create a program that will get a yes.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. You need to be comfortable building slides, working in the Google suite, leveraging AI to be efficient and learning new systems like Hubspot.

Schedule and Compensation:

  • Flexible Working Hours (contingent on performance) 
  • 1hr Weekly All Hands, 1hr bi-weekly Sales and CS team meeting and 1hr weekly 1:1s
  • Compensation is a combination of base and variable from sales, coaching and facilitating.
